As a result of the use of chemical warfare agents, depending on the physical and chemical properties of the toxicant and the conditions of its use, foci of chemical damage are formed:
- unstable (retain the striking power for a short time - minutes, up to 1 hour);
- persistent (retain their destructive ability for a long time - more than 1 hour, hours, days, weeks);
- long-term ecological disadvantage (retain the affecting ability for months, years).

Foci of chemical defeat
Based on the persistence of chemical agents and the speed of formation of sanitary losses from the medical and tactical point of view, four types of foci of chemical defeat are distinguished:
- Persistent focus of defeat by fast-acting BTCV (toxic chemical warfare agent):
