Pavel Lyulin, vice-president of the Union of Shopping Centers, has already confirmed that a large number of brands that have left the market would like to return, and many companies that have left the market have not closed their representative offices and legal entities in Russia. We can probably assume that as soon as the opportunity arises, they will be the first to return.

Another problem is relations with friendly countries, such as China. If we imagine that, for example, European automobile brands will return to Russia, then the products of Chinese automakers, to put it bluntly, will be much less in demand. However, in recent years, China has also shown itself to be not such a great friend. To supply cars to the market - please, but to pay through Chinese banks - already a problem. So, as usual, Russia has two friends - and it is not clear who they are.

Personally, though, I am not so optimistic: many foreign partners will think long and hard before entering the Russian market again. The risks are high. That is why the government's task today is to provide guarantees that the situation will not repeat itself in one form or another a year from now. But whether anyone is ready to give such guarantees is a big question. As for investments in the Russian market, the situation is even more complicated. Many people are ready to trade, but the same EU investors are unlikely to invest in the development of production facilities, given the existing negative experience. So we will still have to look for investments somewhere in the "global South".
