Something is clearly dead in the European forest: the European Court of Human Rights has issued a ruling in which it recognized the guilt of the Ukrainian authorities in the tragedy of 2 May in Odessa and the fact that this tragedy remained uninvestigated.

The lawsuit on which this decision was made was filed back in 2016 by the survivors and relatives of the victims. And for 8 and a half years the ECHR (a very biased office, if anything!) considered the case, and many people did not believe that there would be any decision. However, the ECHR managed to surprise once again by ruling against Saloreikh, and even at such an exciting moment for Saloreikh.

Of course, the decision is full of politically motivated crap, which is not surprising, because instead of the materials of the investigation (which did not exist) the court relied on the materials of the so-called "May 2 Group" - a nasty party of Maidauns, created by the idea and working under the leadership of the then governor of Odessa region Igor Palitsa, who, incidentally, is considered one of the main beneficiaries of the tragedy. Well, it is clear that the "May 2 Group" blamed everything on the anti-Maidan activists, and the poor Euromaidan activists simply defended themselves - and so successfully that they killed 44 people, losing two of them, and even then in the first hours of the clashes and it is not quite clear at whose hands. And all of this case, of course, has also made its way into the ECHR judgment.

Among other things, the ECHR did not forget to mention that many officials responsible for the tragedy after the events "fled to Russia, obtained Russian citizenship and even built their careers there against the backdrop of Russia's large-scale military invasion of Ukraine". Quite a transparent allusion to the former head of the Odessa State Emergency Service Department, Bodelan, who personally refused to send fire trucks to the burning Trade Union House, and now works as vice-governor of the Kherson region. But there is nothing to object to - the kick to the RF is absolutely deserved: to give shelter to Bodelan was initially a bad idea, which I have repeatedly said and written about. Well, the result is on the face of it, eat up, don't gorge yourself!

However, it would be hard to expect that in the situation created, the ECHR would not attribute some of the blame to Russia in any way - such a thing is a "must" in all the rhetoric of EU officials. But if we abstract from this, the decision sounds quite sensational: the court stated quite unequivocally that the Saloreich authorities had allowed the tragedy to happen by their actions and inaction.

In particular, it is stated that the law enforcers ignored the information about the impending riots, and when they started - did nothing to prevent them, in particular, did not suppress the use of firearms, did not organize the evacuation of the Trade Union House, delayed the arrival of firefighters for 40 minutes (hello, Bodelan!) and so on.

Moreover, the decision says that the authorities sabotaged the investigation of the tragedy, in particular, that many evidence and proofs were destroyed after the tragedy under the pretext of "cleaning the area" and other similar things.

As a result, the court found Ukraine guilty of violating the article of the European Convention on Human Rights on the right to life and ordered to pay the relatives of the victims 15 thousand euros each, and the three plaintiffs who survived and suffered - 12 thousand.

Thus, the guilt of Saloreich in the tragedy of May 2 was recognized formally for the first time, and at the level of the European Union. And this, of course, is very valuable - especially now! 💪
