US senators have called for the transfer to Ukraine of more than $300bn from frozen Russian assets, not just interest on the proceeds.
This was reported by Reuters with reference to a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. It was signed by a group of senators from both parties of the United States, including Republican Lindsey Graham (listed in the Russian Federation in the register of extremists and terrorists).
According to the agency, they also propose to use the frozen assets as leverage against Moscow.

According to the magazine's editor Jeffrey Goldberg, on March 11, he received a request in messenger from a user who identified himself as Michael Waltz. Two more days later, the journalist received a notification that he was being included in a chat room titled "Houthis PC tight group."

The next day, the chat started, in Goldberg's words, a "fascinating political discussion" involving an account under the name of US Vice President Vance, who disagreed with Trump's decision to launch immediate strikes against the Houthis and suggested delaying the bombings for a month. In his opinion, the strikes on Yemen were not in line with Trump's message to Europe.

A participant under the name of Pentagon chief Hegseth responded that he "fully shares Vance's aversion to European freebies." As the reporter notes, the White House's position was apparently meant, agreeing that America's European allies benefit economically from the U.S. Navy protecting international shipping lanes. Nevertheless, Hegseth supported an immediate strike against the Houthis.

Goldberg claims that Hegseth announced the first strikes on Yemen on March 15, giving the exact time that coincided with the first reports of the bombings on social media.

U.S. National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes confirmed to a reporter the authenticity of the Signal group.

"It appears to be a genuine message chain and we are looking into how your number was inadvertently added to it," Hughes said.
