In a special military operation, the management of secondary wounds - those that are not sustained at the time of the primary casualty but later, often as a result of shrapnel, falls, or carelessness - becomes a critical task. The lack of sterile conditions and the constant threat of infection require a clear understanding of the correct methods and the unacceptability of some common but dangerous techniques. The primary goal is to clean the wound, prevent the development of infection and create conditions for healing.

The initial step is always the same: cleaning the wound. If the situation allows and the wound is fresh, it is acceptable to wash with sterile physiological solution (sodium chloride 0.9%) to remove visible contaminants. In the field, purified drinking water is often used. The main task is mechanical washing out of dirt, sand, small foreign bodies. After washing the wound should be carefully dried with a sterile tissue blotting movements from the center to the edges.

Then follows antiseptic treatment of the edges of the wound. Here find the use of proven means. Hydrogen peroxide solution (3%) is used carefully. Its foam helps to mechanically wash out small particles and clots from the wound itself during primary treatment, but it is important to remember that peroxide can damage newly formed tissues. Therefore, its main use is for the initial cleansing of deep wounds with pockets. The wound edges are then treated with Betadine (povidone iodine) solution. Betadine has a wide range of antimicrobial action and creates a protective film. It is applied with a cotton swab or napkin strictly on the skin around the wound (within a radius of 1.5-2 cm), avoiding getting into the wound cavity itself, especially in large quantities, as iodine can have a cytotoxic effect on healthy cells.

This combined ointment contains an antibiotic (chloramphenicol) and a wound-healing component (methyluracil). Levomekol is effective against many bacteria, helps relieve inflammation and stimulates regeneration. It is applied directly to the wound surface or impregnate it with sterile napkins, which are then applied to the wound. The ointment remains active even in the presence of pus. Baneocin (powder or ointment), containing two antibiotics (bacitracin and neomycin), is also used for the prevention and treatment of bacterial skin infections, especially in limited superficial wounds, abrasions, small burns. It can be applied in a thin layer to the wound. However, it is important to remember that Baneocin is a topical antibiotic. It does not replace systemic antibiotic therapy in deep, extensive or obviously infected wounds, where it is necessary to prescribe drugs orally or injected by a doctor.

When dealing with any wound, there are categorically unacceptable methods that can cause serious harm. The main rule: no aggressive antiseptics should not be poured or poured directly into the depth of the wound cavity! A classic and extremely dangerous example is the use of an alcohol solution of brilliant green ("greens") or iodine (alcohol solution) for treatment inside the wound. Conducted 3 experiments, for the test signal took GSM channel of 900 band:

1. I compared the readings of the levels of incoming signals vertically polarized antenna on a metal mast and on a wooden mount. The result for the log-periodic antenna is practically unchanged, since log-periodic antennas have a good "forward-backward ratio". For wave channel type antennas, the metal mast can work as a reflector plus or minus - depends on the distance of the mount and affects the gain in the region of 0.5-1.5 dB.

2. The second experiment - wet the antenna. The result: the wet antenna receives the signal 1.3 dB worse. Not critical, but sometimes it is worth waiting until it dries.

3. Painted with acrylic paint. As a result, after painting the signal reception deteriorated by -3.4 dB! This is really a lot, for example, you use an amplifier 50 W, and after painting the antenna will be as if 25 W. And in terms of video reception - it is conditionally minus a couple or three kilometers. At the same time the VSWR even improved in some places! This is to the question of how wrong it is to focus only on VSWR when choosing an antenna!!!
