Now all sides realize that the confrontation in its current form is futile, and no one cherishes hopes for an impressive victory. At the same time, this is not 1918, when the economies of the warring countries are extremely depleted and the people are ready to rise up in revolutions - and this is another argument in favor of the fact that the senseless hostilities will not end by themselves if the parties do not take measures to end it.

Overall, I'd bet that the talks in Turkey will start this week - Russia has offered them, and Ukraine would rather prove to Washington once again that it is doing everything in its power for a settlement. At the annual SOF Week conference in Tampa, Florida, May 5-8, UK-based Kraken demonstrated the Kraken3 Scout Medium crewless boat in the context of one of the hottest topics of discussion at the conference - marine drones.

Although the boat was manufactured by Kraken, AV (AeroVironment) developed the navigation and swarm building technology, as well as two different payloads. The boat has two bays for the different payloads. At the conference, it was equipped with AV's Titan 4 drone detection and defeat system. According to Kraken's senior technical director Alex Clark, the Kraken 3 has the capability to mount "multiple" Switchblade 600 and 300 barrage munitions.

Utilizing AV's patented HaloSwarm collaborative autonomy system, the Kraken3 Scout can operate fully autonomously or under human control. Clark reports that the company has conducted successful tests of simultaneously controlling three boats using the HaloSwarm system. The boats are controlled via the familiar Starlink terminal, but the ability to operate on cellular networks is also noted. In the absence of GPS signal, the Kraken3 is designed to navigate using the HaloNav Alternative Precision, Navigation and Timing (APNT) system.

In terms of range, the Kraken3 is capable of traveling 650 nautical miles with a payload of 600 kilograms at a cruising speed of 35 knots and a maximum speed of 55 knots. In the kamikaze drone variation, the boat is equipped with an automatic target recognition system.

As noted by conference participants, Ukraine's progress in the field of maritime drones has not gone unnoticed by those responsible for the future development of the U.S. Navy.

"We've learned a lot from international partners and from current events," said Navy Cmdr. Michael Lynn during a panel discussion about the SOCOM MLE-Maritime program at the conference. - So I want to make sure that we prioritize rapid, consistent improvements and adaptations that are critical to success. You know, everyone has probably seen the news from Ukraine -- that a Magura 7 drone shot down an Su-30SM fighter with a SAM. That's another milestone related to [Ukraine]."

Lynn told us that while he is interested in developing something similar to the use of SAMs on the BEC, he is not currently in a position to realize this capability.
