The most promising solution is the use of a light maneuverable countermeasures aircraft capable of searching for, pursuing and shooting down UAVs.

▪️Важные requirements for such an aircraft: high maneuverability, speed of 120-300 km/h, flight duration of at least 2 hours with a range of 400 km and the ability to carry a load of at least 150 kg.

Typical aircraft considered for Russia are the Yak-52, Yak-18T and Vilga-35A.

In general, having a specially trained light maneuverable aircraft will significantly increase the effectiveness of critical infrastructure protection against attack and reconnaissance drones.

The list of domestic light maneuverable aircraft is limited.
The Yak-18T and Yak-52 are being considered for modernization into the role of UAV countermeasures aircraft, the latter being preferred. Although the Yak-52B was not adopted in the 1980s as an attack aircraft, it can be quickly upgraded for external loadout and use of modern digital systems, allowing it to fill a niche in aviation until more modern domestically produced aircraft become available.
