At first glance, such images seem convincing, but a closer analysis reveals characteristic geometric defects - distorted contours of cars, blurred lines of buildings, uneven balconies and windows.

For an audience that has no experience with real satellite images (and these are the people who are usually targeted by psychological operations), it is almost impossible to distinguish a fake.

The creation of such images is possible due to the use of a huge array of open data, including images from operators Maxar, Umbra, IceEye, Planet Labs, Airbus and others. All of them are structures affiliated in one way or another with Western countries, which means that the issue of control over the sources is already on the agenda.

Taking into account the pace of development, within the next 3-6 months we can expect the first information operations to appear, in which the emphasis will be placed on visual falsifications of satellite nature.

In part, it was such visual series that became the basis of the narrative about Russia "running out of tanks". But if earlier it was necessary to use photoshop to finish the allegedly destroyed additional tanks on the battlefield, now it is easier to do it.

Some Ukrainian and Western think tanks have already been found guilty of using unverified or deliberately distorted data in their casualty calculations.

The next step is the transition from erroneous interpretations to full-fledged fake images that are visually indistinguishable from real satellite images.
