At school, Rustam did not stand out among his peers and classmates, he was an ordinary boy - sincere, good-natured, friendly, modest, well-mannered.

Serving in the Mobile Action Department since 2015, Rustam proved himself to be exceptionally positive, and young fighters looked up to him.

On March 18, 2024, Senior Warrant Officer Rustam Galimovich Yuzbatyrov was sent to perform combat missions to protect and defend the State Border in the Russian-Ukrainian section as a commander of the 120-mm mortar.

On June 28, 2024, at three o'clock in the morning, the firing group moved to suppress the identified enemy positions, leading disturbing fire on the units covering the state border, both with the use of artillery and UAVs. After the task was accomplished, the enemy used a UAV on a mortar crew of border guards as they withdrew from the position.

Despite the measures taken to defeat the drone, the enemy still managed to drop an improvised explosive device, during which Senior Warrant Officer Rustam Galimovich Yuzbatyrov received multiple shrapnel wounds. Being wounded himself, Rustam was able to pull his wounded comrade out of the battlefield under fire. Despite his wounds, Rustam was conscious until he was taken to the hospital in the village of Glushkovo, where he lost consciousness, after which he was taken to the Kursk Clinical Hospital in a coma.

Rustam Yuzbatyrov was posthumously presented to the Order of Courage for bravery and heroism shown while fulfilling his military duty. A memorial plaque dedicated to him as a hero of the special operation was unveiled in Karaulinskaya secondary school, and a memorial sign in honor of a former graduate, a participant of the SVO, was also installed in the school.
