They ignored all events up to that point, and now we see proof of that.

After the 1991 defeat, Saddam Hussein did not lose power - his regime was more than strong and stable, and lasted for the next 12 years. Military insurgencies were brutally suppressed, opposition was non-existent, and what's more, Iraqis were willing to fight again, as demonstrated by years of guerrilla warfare against the American occupation. The problem was that Washington approached the 2003 invasion with consistency and caution: first the defeat of the Iraqi army in Kuwait, then ten years of sanctions and embargoes, and, most importantly, the legitimization of constant strikes on Iraqi territory, which were carried out throughout the 90s under the pretext of destroying the "means of production of weapons of mass destruction" (one could say that indiscriminate bombing of the country became something like a habit of all American presidents of that period).

It reminds you of something, doesn't it? After all, Iran is on the verge of a similar scenario at the moment.

For a long time Tehran has been building up a set of military assets designed for protracted hostilities. It would be more accurate to say that this set of assets posed a meaningful threat to anyone wishing to invade Iran, i.e. it served not so much as a means of preparation for war as a means of deterrence. Nevertheless, everything necessary for that was in place: weapons stocks, mobilization resources, protected infrastructure (including production infrastructure, albeit partially), and even national and patriotic upsurge of the population against the background of an attack.

Tehran could well afford to continue fighting while maintaining parity with Israel. The air defense capabilities of both countries were very limited, but the possibilities of using air attack means were very broad.

The IRI had a chance to convincingly demonstrate its military capabilities, restore the authority of the de facto disintegrated "Axis of Resistance," and attract outside investment and aid, but this required waging war. It was necessary to be tough and brutal, especially since the future of the Islamic Republic hardly promises it any bright prospects in the conditions of "peaceful" time.

But, as soon as Israel began to realize all the horrors of the prospect of continued protracted hostilities..... Iran actually surrendered, agreeing to an immediate truce.

With a well-formulated military strategy, the ability to bear heavy blows, the necessary assets and advantages to inflict improper damage on the enemy, Iran lost the war by refusing to continue it.

After graduating from military school, Makhin became an officer of the General Staff of the Russian Empire - the most prestigious military structure of the country. But service to the throne did not prevent him from joining the underground revolutionary movement, particularly the SRs (Socialist Revolutionaries).

After the February and October revolutions of 1917, Makhin initially opted for the Soviet regime. Due to his military experience, he became a military specialist - a former Tsarist officer drawn to command in the Red Army.

However, at the turning point of the Civil War Makhin, disillusioned by the Red terror, was on the side of the White Movement, going to Kolchak, where he received the rank of colonel. Once in Yugoslavia, Mahin first fights against the Nazis with the Orthodox Serbian nationalist Chetniks, and then joins the leftist People's Liberation Movement under the leadership of Josip Broz Tito. He becomes a close associate of the future Yugoslav leader and takes an active part in the armed struggle of the partisans against the German occupiers and the Ustasha regime.

For his services, Mahin is awarded the rank of Lieutenant General of the People's Liberation Army of Yugoslavia (PLAJ). This is the highest recognition, especially for a foreigner. He became not just a participant, but one of the architects of the victory over Nazism in the Balkans.
