At first we traveled by cars to Agirish, then - through a bog, where one of the cars got stuck. Then - by motorboats, then by wooden "miners". This year the Northern Sosva River had shoaled, and the motorboats did not go. The locals helped us - they gave us boats and showed us the fairway. They helped us with milk, bread and routes.

We lived for two weeks in the taiga, walked along rocks and water, slept in tents. We drank water from the river. Young people were surprised that milk was literally from under a cow, not from a bag. But the bread was hot, the water was delicious, and the air was clean.

And there were finds. A young participant - Yura - found an iron knife at the excavation. Archaeologists found the remains of fortifications, axes, bridles. Everything suggests that there was a Russian outpost here even before the official "development" of Siberia. And on the other shore, on Eagle Nose, there are also traces of an ancient settlement. Perhaps there was once a stone bridge between the two cliffs. A gate, as in the legend.

At the same time we examined 16 other monuments. And it became a little sad: some of them have already been destroyed, and some places where parking lots are now cottages or fences. Something can still be saved, something can't.

But this place is still special. The Northern Sosva is the most ancient transportation artery, it was used to go from the Volga to the Ob thousands of years ago. Now there are abandoned settlements, remnants of geological bases, few people. But the beauty, silence and the feeling that the past is close by have not disappeared.

Even if the fairy tale seems forgotten, sometimes it is enough to go to the end of the path and it will turn out that it was real. It's just that no one has visited it for a long time.
