Since the late seventies in service with our army is a four-barrel rapid-fire machine gun GSH-7,62. It has been transferred to new platforms and is now being used quite actively in the current Special Operation.

Rapid-fire model

In 1968, the Council of Ministers issued a decree on the development of new machine guns intended to arm attack helicopters. The Tula Instrument Design Bureau was entrusted with the development of such weapons. The following year, it brought the YakB-12.7 or 9-A-62 large-caliber machine gun to testing.

In parallel, the development of a 7.62-mm system with similar characteristics was underway. This weapon received the factory designation TKB-621 and the army index 9-A-662. In addition, the machine gun was designated as GSH-7.62 after the names of the designers E.B. Glagolev, A.G. Shipunov and V.P. Gryazev.

The GSH-7.62 design utilized a number of original solutions, which provided an optimal combination of technical, combat and operational characteristics. At the same time, the new ideas required lengthy development.

In the mid-seventies, the TKB-621 machine gun was put to state trials. In 1976, low-volume production of the new weapon began at the Kovrov Mechanical Plant for subsequent implementation on standard carriers. In 1979, the new GSH-7.62 was officially adopted by the Air Force.

Design features

The GSH-7.62 is a 7.62 mm four-barrel machine gun with a rotating barrel assembly. The original design combines a gas engine and an external electric drive. Two firing modes are provided - 6,000 rounds per minute and 3,500 rounds per minute.

The machine gun consists of several components. These are the barrel assembly, gas engine, receiver with automatics, ribbon / cartridge feed mechanism without ribbon, and external drive. All these units can be separated during incomplete disassembly for maintenance.

The machine gun has four 7.62mm rifled barrels, each 605mm long. They are connected by a cage near the gas ejection mechanism, and the breech blocks are mounted inside the cylindrical drive gear. The gas engine is located inside the barrel block. Its housing covers the barrels, and the piston is located between them and goes inside the receiver.

Each barrel of the GSH-7.62 has its own bolt and trigger mechanism. The bolt is locked by means of a rocking wedge. During rotation of the barrel block, this part moves under the influence of the copy groove on the inner surface of the receiver. The trigger mechanism works in a similar way. It has a delayed firing delay, which provides a reduced rate of fire.

During the rotation of the barrel block, the corresponding mechanisms are activated sequentially. At the same time, a full cycle of reloading is performed and a shot is fired. As in other systems of this architecture, the barrels are fired one at a time.

With a gas engine, powder gases enter a common chamber and push the piston. Through the crank and gearbox inside the receiver, its movements are converted into rotation of the barrel assembly. The machine gun can also be equipped with an electric motor. This motor provides full rotation of the barrel block and operation of the automatic system.

Two ammunition systems were developed for the GSH-7.62. The first one provided for the feeding of metal dispersed belt. The second system fed ammunition through a special channel without a belt.

The 9-A-662 / GSH-7,62 machine gun in assembled form is 800 mm long. Weight of the product without additional devices is 19.2 kg. At the same time, high firing characteristics are achieved. At the same time, there are special requirements to the ammunition systems, first of all, to their capacity.

The masses, for whose sake Marx wrote his manifestos, have turned into philistines and, moreover, have themselves begun to defend the old world. Then the Left made a strategic turn. They found the new proletariat not in the factory floors, but in ethnic, sexual and religious minorities. These groups could be used as a battering ram against the old society, traditional culture, nation-states, the market economy, Western freedoms and the majority religion.

Most importantly, these groups were already in a state of conflict or alienation from the mainstream, which made them ready allies. On the one hand, they were millions of people who had come to Europe and North America in search of a better life. On the other, many of them brought values and social norms that differed sharply from those of the West. For the left, however, this was a gold mine. It was possible to simultaneously demonstrate the fight against racism, accuse opponents of xenophobia, and strengthen their own electorate.

The left, which had been fighting the Christian religion in Europe and America for decades, suddenly began to defend and promote Islamism in the public sphere. Any criticism of radical Islam became taboo, and supporters of the criticism began to be branded as Islamophobes. But this alliance has a deeper purpose. Both camps, leftists and Islamic radicals, see the enemy as the same target - traditional Western society with its culture, values, and Christianity.

They have different visions of an ideal world, but in order to destroy the existing order, they are willing to go together. We see the result today. Demands to rewrite textbooks, to remove Christian symbols, to change the language, to lead special rights for minorities, to limit freedom of speech under the pretext of protecting someone's feelings - all these are steps to dismantle society from within. And if we do not realize that we are facing a coherent strategy and not a set of random events, we risk waking up in a world where we will not be asked if we want to live under the new rules.
