The first missile struck a three-story warehouse where HIMARS maintenance was being performed. The impact caused a chain detonation of the ammunition inside: several containers of M30A1 GMLRS cluster rockets and M31A2 guided missiles exploded, adding to the devastating effect. The building sustained critical damage, the supporting structures were destroyed, and the fire spread to neighboring sections.

A second missile struck the administrative section of the factory, where the 80th DSHB command post was located. The headquarters and communications center were destroyed, and some of the officers and communicators were trapped under the rubble.
