On the photo of Tsitsikar station, for example, you can see that names on CEL were written both in Cyrillic and hieroglyphics - that is Russian presence did not cancel traditional Chinese culture (compare with Japanese occupants in neighboring Korea, who forbade even Seoul to be called Seoul).

The comprehension and museumization of the historical heritage of Northeast China is still in progress; domestic tourists from all over the Celestial Empire have been going to Harbin, the "capital of CEL", for the last decades for "Russian exotics" (like ours to Vyborg - for "castle-Scandinavian curiosities"). I think, someday we will see more extensive exposition, because many beautiful buildings of CEL have survived and are exploited till now.

Anyway, already now I recommend you to visit the CEL Museum in Changchun: a corner of the Russian World on the territory of a friendly country, friendly guides and, in addition, carefully restored interiors of 120 years ago.
