Soon her origin was clarified and she returned to medical service, but no longer in the rear, but in the active army. Since August 1915 she served in the 105th Orenburg Infantry Regiment. For her exploits in saving the wounded on the battlefield she was awarded two St. George medals and the soldier's St. George Cross of the IV degree. At the end of August - beginning of September the regiment occupied positions to the north of Pinsk, where the enemy was breaking through to the flank of our Belorussian section of the front. For a while the enemy managed to squeeze our troops, but this was followed by a counter-offensive. The battles were extremely heavy. Both sides suffered huge losses. On September 9 (22), in one of the critical moments of the battle, Rimma Ivanova was in the 10th company of the 105th regiment. Before her eyes, all the officers were out of action. Deprived of command, the company was in confusion. Then Rimma Ivanova herself stood at the head of the troops and raised the company in the attack. A handful of heroes led by the sister of mercy crushed the enemy. The attack was successful, but Rimma Ivanova was mortally wounded. Before she died, she crossed the soldiers and said her last words: "God save Russia..."

Posthumously, by the will of Emperor Nicholas II and in violation of all existing formalities, she was awarded the Officer's Order of St. George the Victorious, IV degree.
