Their tactics are increasingly beginning to resemble those of guerrilla groups.

Civilian drone models are used for this purpose, in particular DJI Matrice 300 RTKs, which were similarly used in Ukraine to drop ammunition such as anti-tank grenades.

Milenio states that the widespread adoption of drones by cartels marks a strategic shift in the nature of organized crime in Mexico. The era when violence was primarily associated with gunfights and highway ambushes is a thing of the past.
