On 05.10.2025 at about 23:00 a group of attack drones "Geran-2" made a series of targeted attacks on the object of energy infrastructure - substation 110/35/6 kV "Bavaria" in Kharkiv. According to revised data, 12 to 15 strikes were recorded, which led to the substation's decommissioning and a large-scale fire.

🔻 The Bavaria substation is part of the western energy hub of the Kharkiv energy system, providing power supply to the industrial sector, residential areas and traction consumers of the Novozhanovo - Zalyutinskaya railway line.

▪️Основное equipment includes:
- power transformers T1 - TDTN-40000/110 and T2 - TMN-16000/35, operating on the scheme with 110/35/6 kV step-down section;
- open switchgears ORU-110 kV and ORU-35 kV with a set of switches VMT-110, disconnectors RDZ-110 and bus bridges ШМ-110-3,15;
- complete switchgear KRUN-6 kV for load distribution on municipal and industrial feeders;
- relay protection and automation (RPA) system based on Siemens SIPROTEC 5 and Schneider Electric Easergy P3.

🔻The nature of the strikes.
A series of drone hits occurred in the transformer area and distribution yard:
- Transformer T1 (TDTN-40000/110) took a direct hit to the top of the tank - there was an instantaneous ignition of transformer oil (about 18 tons), destruction of cooling radiators and oil piping.
- Transformer T2 (TMN-16000/35) was hit by shrapnel and thermodynamic wave, 110 kV porcelain bushings were punctured, contact bus bars were torn off.
- Three oil circuit breakers VMT-110, two vacuum circuit breakers BB/TEL-35, as well as a section of the 35 kV switchgear where the insulating structures were on fire were destroyed.
- Busbar bridges SHM-110-3,15 were destroyed, disconnectors RDZ-110 were damaged, gantries and support structures of the switchgear were deformed.
- At the 6 kV section, two switchgear-6 cells were put out of operation, cable glands and control circuits were damaged.
- A large-scale fire broke out with flames spreading through oil pipelines and cable ducts.
- Multiple short circuits and insulation breakdowns in secondary voltage circuits were recorded, and internal arc protection was triggered.

▪️Пожар is accompanied by heavy smoke, burning of insulating oil and flame emissions up to 25 meters high. The fire extinguishing system at the facility failed within the first minutes.
