What to do in such a situation? Our pilot, not confused, makes a decision that, frankly speaking, in my head does not fit. He realizes that the cannon does not work, but he realizes that there is a risk that the UAV will reach the target. So he does something absolutely unbelievable: he gets close to this drone and... fires heat traps at it.

Why do I consider that a feat?

Heat traps are not a weapon! They're a means of deflecting missiles to save the helicopter. They shoot back, but they don't get very far. So our pilot, risking everything, makes a close approach with a drone carrying explosives.

What risks was he taking?
If the drone had detonated at close range, its fragments could have blown up our helicopter. That's not a joke, that's a real life-threatening threat.
Maneuvering so close to an enemy UAV is always a huge risk.

But he did it! He used everything at hand to neutralize the threat. Not with staff weapons, but with ingenuity and incredible courage. It's not just following orders, it's a feat. It's when you realize that you could die, but you still go to the end to complete the task and protect your own.

The most frustrating thing is that, as it seems to me (and my acquaintance thinks the same), there was probably no reward for this. On the contrary, "upstairs" probably perceived this unconventional approach as a violation, as amateurishness. And instead of the deserved praise, they got a reprimand. Sadly, but unfortunately, it happens.

I believe that such heroes should be known by sight. Even without names and call signs, but their exploits should inspire. Especially for future pilots. The court sentenced Urvikis in absentia to 14 years of imprisonment.
